Economy and business

The Mayor of London develops an economic development strategy, works to promote a strong economy in London, supports local economies and helps Londoners create wealth.

The Mayor works with businesses, London’s councils and through the London Enterprise Panel to drive jobs and growth.

The Mayor also champions London in the UK and abroad, encouraging industries and investments.

Economic and business matters could cover a range of areas, such as:

  • large, medium and small businesses
  • entrepreneurship
  • infrastructure development
  • finance and the economy
  • business partnerships
  • supporting specific industries, such as science and technology

The London Assembly reviews the Mayor’s economic development strategy, recommends improvements to it and tests it to ensure it can be delivered effectively.
